Recent Service Projects

Zeta women are integral to communities around the world. We are mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and sisters; we are also leaders, advocates and change agents. Committed to keeping our neighborhoods safe and our families healthy, we recognize the responsibility we have to bring our communities together for collective action.

Specifically, Zeta engages our communities by raising awareness on key issues, promoting voter registration and mobilization, building relationships with elected officials, and encouraging qualified women and minorities to pursue community leadership positions. We understand that by integrating these activities into our daily civic engagement strategy, we can make a substantial impact.

2024 march for babies

NU PSI ZETA SUPPORTS MARCH FOR BABIES

Taking steps to protect the health of every family today and for generations to come.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and March of Dimes fight for the health of all moms and babies. With the move of the MOD national headquarters to the Washington, DC area we are poised physically to accompany them as they legislate to improve the healthcare system. Empowering families with the knowledge and tools to have healthier pregnancies is necessary. Improving existing fundraising stakeholder collaborations and initiating new ones with associations, organizations, agencies, and companies is a cross-cutting priority for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and March of Dimes.

the Zeta Amicae of Peekskill and Operation Prom.

Operation Prom National Network, Inc., is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps students attend their prom by providing free dresses and tuxedos. Each school year, prom formal wear as well as accessory items such as shoes, undergarments, jewelry, and bowties are collected and distributed. The goal is to ensure that each student receives the perfect prom attire allowing them to feel confident and empowered.

2024 Global Day of Service

Global Day of Service is the Sisterhood’s annual time of the year to unify our efforts to promote healthy lives, healthy minds, and healthy communities worldwide. The day aims to address a pressing issue on a global scale by organizing diverse activities that empower communities, foster awareness, and contribute to positive change.

Nu Psi Zeta Chapter partnered with The Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley, Meals that Heal program to prepare a full course brunch for 30 families caring for their sick or injured children. The menu included waffles, chicken tenders, eggs, home fries, turkey bacon, sausage, and salad.

Service is what we do!

2024 “Oh Give Thanks” Food Drive

Community support such as ours makes a tremendous difference. Our Annual “Oh Give Thanks” Food Drive helps address the issue of food insecurity during the holiday season. We partner with the Peekskill Department of Social Services to identify families and distribute baskets to those in need. This year we were able to provide 8 families with baskets.

annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon

For more than 37 years, Nu Psi Zeta Chapter has hosted our “Annual Scholarship Luncheon” (and we are the FIRST Greek lettered organization to do so in the city of Peekskill).

Congratulations to all of our Honorees who have made a difference by encouraging, inspiring, and motivating others through positive action.

2023 Annual Support-A-Walk for Breast & Ovarian Cancer

Annual Support-A-Walk for Breast & Ovarian Cancer is held each year to bring attention to the needs of people living with breast, ovarian or any gynecological cancer, and to raise funds for free support services such as one-on-one peer counseling, support groups, educational and wellness programs, and social activities.

Each year, thousands of people participate in this uplifting community event. Family and friends come together to celebrate, support, and remember loved ones. For individuals, businesses and organizations in the community, it is an opportunity to express encouragement and compassion for those living with breast, ovarian, or any gynecological cancer.
